Community is growing and spreading in our Lexington Square Neighborhood. We are excited and energized by the growing sense of community in our area and the possibility for an even more amazing community connectedness. We listed our already unique and inspiring opportunities. These include: The Lexington Square Newsletter, Lexington Square e-news, the www.LexingtonSquareNews.com website, the resource guide, the National Night Out and the annual garage sale.

We have brainstormed some exciting new opportunities to bring to our neighborhood. They are:

    Caring Friends
We know that most neighbors would be happy to perform basic caring activities for their neighbors but don’t always know that something is going on with the family. An organized volunteer group can help with the communications. Neighbors could bring a care basket to another neighbor who is ill or has an ill family member. They could also bring a needed grocery item to the family. They could bring a meal to a family with a new baby.

    Welcome Wagon
These neighbors could bring a welcome basket to a family that is new to the neighborhood to welcome them and could serve as a point person for questions newcomers have about the neighborhood.

    Family Play Group
Families with children that are similar in age could get together. The children could play and the adults would have a chance to get socialize with each other.

    Social Get Togethers
This group might organize social get togethers for small or large groups of neighbors.

    Circle of Contribution
This group might volunteer to shovel for a family that would benefit from this act of kindness. They might offer to mow the lawn for a family that would benefit from the extra support.

    Resource Group
Families with school books or instruments that they are no longer using could sell or give them away after being posted on the newsletter. Families could share school project ideas with other families.

We invite anyone to join any of these groups. We are committed to respecting and honoring each person's time and talent. We know how very busy families are so we are committed to brief but impacting creation meetings. These groups will respect and honor the time of people who are interested in participating.

We welcome all creative and inspiring ideas. Please send your name and email address to any of the following names and emails if you are interested in any of these groups or the volunteer co-op planning group.
